There's some interesting points in the comments on this article, make sure to read those too as they bring some clarity to the situation which UK farming faces.

Hey Lightherder, good seeing you share more of your work on HN. I submitted one of your videos a few days ago as i thought it might go down well here. You really are a craftsman. And the effort you go to and the results you get are extraordinary. Keep up the good work and i hope to see your future stuff here on HN.

https://researchbuzz.me/

Run by the tireless Tara Calishain. Covers the world of search engines, archives, social media, online information collections, and other interesting stuff. She's been running the site 1998. Not many sites like this around much these days.

Hey,thanks very much. I was wondering where all that traffic was coming from.

For those of you who are more interested in very specific information, there's also ResearchBuzz Firehose, which indexes individual items so you can do tag- and query-monitoring without trouble. Here's an article on how to make the most of it: https://researchbuzz.me/2015/06/23/introducing-the-researchb...

It's wonderful to see people getting into RSS and news feeds again. I have a site called RSSGizmos.com with a number of tools for making the most of RSS, including a keyword-based RSS feed generator and a tool to make RSS feeds using Bing News' loc: syntax.

Everything's free and there are no ads.

Thank you again, it was so kind of you to mention my site.

Hahaha. No probs Tara. I've been a long term reader of your site for probably a decade or so, and i've found loads of useful/ interesting stuff over the years because of it. I honestly don't know how you keep up with all the things you post about (do you ever sleep:-). Hope you and the family are well and keep up the good work;-) If any HN readers are into RSS, monitoring topics/keywords and finding obscure stuff online I recommend checking out her tools/guides. She has some pretty creative stuff on there which are usually free to use/implement.

+1 There are very few people like Tara who have been curating such good stuff for such a long time.

I listened to it on audiobook and found it a bit hard to understand at times. I'm a great admirer of Joseph Campbell and I love cumulative mythology. I found this podcast series of his old lectures much more fun and entertaining. He was a great lecturer with good sense of humor: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/pathways-with-joseph-c... The audio quality is very good to say how old the lectures are.

Nice. But can you please add an RSS feed

I can't believe no one has mentioned it but Jriver is a damn fine feature rich media which has been developed by a dedicated team for years: https://www.jriver.com/

They even have a lossless streaming service of sorts where you can upload your own playlist and then stream it wherever you want: https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Cloudplay

I've been using it for nearly 10 years and the devs have kept it functional, feature rich, and importantly it's avoided the gradual shitification which seems to infest a lot of modern music service/programs (ie. Spotify).

Also, their pricing is reasonable. Namely a yearly fee which - even if you don't pay it - their software still carries on working (a rarity these days).

I've used it pretty much most days for nearly 10+ years and it just works. I've never had it corrupt my massive digital music collection. I can tag something when i need to. LastFM works with it. And the interface has the highly usable old itunes-esq look/layout which is great if you're working on a desktop all day.

I also have a RaspPi and a MiniPC in other parts of the house, they both run Jriver and sync with my main library on my work PC. All playlists and ratings are sync, and if i change one it will update to the master library. And my licence allows as many installations of jriver as i want (another rarity these days).

I love my history but it seems most of my fav podcasts have already been mentioned on here. However, no one has mentioned this one which is a podcast of lectures from the late great Joseph Campbell:

https://pathways-with-joseph-campbell.simplecast.com/episode...

If you enjoy superb analysis of ancient myths and religion check it out. Campbell was a major influence on people like George Lucas and others.

The audio is surprisingly good considering some of lectures are from the 60s and 70s.

I honestly can't get enough of this podcast.

I recommend https://www.shlinkedin.com/ as a viable alternative

Try yoga.

I'm the wrong side of 40. I do two 10-15 min practices each side of the day. And have been doing this for nearly six years now. My balance has never been better.

There's loads of types/styles of yoga, and there are specific balance type practices for all levels - just have a hunt round YouTube.

Hey disco is coming back. If these trends continue... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6LOWKVq5sQ
