Until it can be included together with, instead of separately as an "and", genocide studies, this unnecessary distinction will continue to fuel ethno-nationalist extremism and neocolonial arrogance.
It's ironic that the Palestinian civil registry is maintained by Israel and issues different colors of identification cards and vehicle number plates to discriminate against Palestinians as varying tiers of subhumans. No one really knows how many people are dead because often there isn't anyone left in previously large families to update the registry during the years of systematic and wanton bombing of civilian "safe" areas.
