Autism evaluations are being canceled over fears about a national registry (statnews.com)

Available part of the article quotes unspecified 2nd hand rumors from unidentified people as the only source for this claim. As in "one person we spoke to said they heard that there were cancelations".

This is very poor journalism and nobody should consider this as any more or less true than any hypothetical they can imagine themselves. If this journalist actually tried to find more credible sources and failed it is somewhat evidence against the claim that this is happening at all, depending on how competent the journalist is.

Now RFK Jr. gets to take credit for the decline in autism diagnoses in the country and attribute it to whatever crackpot reason he wants.

They've also got a case of orange man bad syndrome. Jokes aside, why would they cancel? Don't they want to contribute to efforts to understand root causes?

You may not understand how deeply the distrust is of this current government by many.

"Just names in a list" hasn't fared well throughout history, including if your name is currently on any DHS watchlist, often for just sounding similar to someone else who might be from a foreign country, with no way to even know about it without info from the FISA court.

read about the history of Nazi Germany and disease registries, with special attention to what specifically happened to those people who found their names in these registries.
