They think too much. If I pirate a game that probably means I won't buy it. I doubt the legal fees even justify for it.


You aren't thinking this through. If enough people pirate something (game, movie, etc), the perceived value is $0 which isn't good for creators. Digital goods are almost like currency than physical items.


What I think is, people who pirate things rarely buy if they can't pirate (or they just borrow). I could definitely be wrong but there should be mathematically significant tests to justify the lawyer fee. I'm not trying to justify the pirates, I'm trying to justify the lawyer fee.

Like, you should be 95% confident to say, if people can't pirate the game, we expect the sales to go up X%. And you should also be 95% confident to say, if you pay us Y amount as lawyer fee, I'll make sure that pirate goes down by Z%.
