I have read multiple MW Lucas books over the past 15 years, and every one has been top notch in its field or subject. They are the first texts I read for any project.
I’m a big fan of MWL’s tech books. (Can’t speak to his fiction as my brand of ADHD doesn’t really let me consume much fiction).
But I think he has struck a chord with the tech community on this one. Those of us that do sysadmin things, personally or professionally, are getting increasingly frustrated with getting pushed around by big tech. It’s nice to have a bit of a guide on how to grab back some of the infrastructure.
I've never read a book from MWL that wasn't entertaining and full of knowledge even in a field where I had years of experience.
Big Tech tought us that Running Your Own Mail Server is too hard, too complicated and coerce sysadmins by flagging mail from independent mail servers as Spam.
I'm looking forward to this book and hope that MWL will address that particular problem in detail.
As this is now basically a bundle with Networking for Systems Administrators. I have, at this point, spent years thinking of things to suggest to update it and can’t come up with anything. I suggest all new Unix and cloud people at my work read it. It will make a great companion book to RYOMS. Really looking forward to this one.
