This thread is almost six years old, but sadly, it might as well have been started last week. :-(
Casey Muratori has since started a number of side-projects, so perhaps Handmade Hero has run out of steam for him. I know that he's stated in the past that is interest is more in the technical side of game programming and that he's not a game designer. Well, duh... However, his spiel has always been that Handmade Hero was about writing a complete(!) game from scratch. Not just a game engine.
His standard excuse is that this is just a weekend project and if you were to add the hours up and compare it to a normal work week in a game studio, he'd only be in, what, three months into the development or something. Well, by that measure, I guess we have to wait another few decades until the game will finally be finished.
