Kickstarter Introduces AI Policy (kickstarter.com)

What is "AI"? That's the biggest problem with all these silly policies. Do they mean llms and/or text-to-image models?

Anyway, kickstarter seems to be way too trigger happy on shutting down any projects that are at all different. I don't know why anyone would bother using them in light of other options.

I think they explain the process pretty well. It's about transparency towards the end user. "The creator will be asked to share if their project uses AI technology to generate outputs, if the project's primary focus is on developing generative AI technology, or if it involves another use of AI. We’ll also ask whether the creator has consent from owners of the works that are used to produce the AI-generated portion of their project."

That's even dumber than I expected. So some trivial use of Resnet that starts with image-net weights wouldn't be allowed? And literally no generative AI? This is what happens when companies decide they need to push activist "morals" onto their users.
