Ask HN: What does everyone like for all-purpose business process apps?

Title mostly says it all. I'm looking to use an integrated tool to step up a bunch of business process tracking and automation for a company of 20 people, probably growing to around 30-40 in the coming year.

Is Airtable good for this? Monday.com?

If you are looking for "generic" workflows (HR, CRM..) plus "work management" (projects, collaboration...), then Monday is indeed the popular all-in-one solution.

If you want to augment it with more "specific" internal data-based tools, look at low-code platforms like retool [1]. They are used to build custom business processes on top of Airtable or any DB.

Otherwise, A favourite of mine is https://fibery.io/. It is a fresh take on modular business software.

Or you can go the classic OSS ERP route. https://www.odoo.com/ maybe?

From my current employer I discovered that you can get surprisingly high mileage with spreadsheets and a little bit of scripting.

My employer uses Google Sheets with app scripts [1].

It automatically reads emails, updates a bunch of spreadsheets, makes other API calls, creates entire report documents etc.

The initial setup might take a while though.
