Apple’s iCloud Plus bundles a VPN, private email, and HomeKit camera storage (theverge.com)

I'm glad Apple is normalizing private browsing, one thing that irks me about using VPNs is that unless you spin up your own instance from a VPS and stick to using that same IP consistently, you'll run into many websites putting up extra captchas and "we think you're a bot" messages, stores declining your purchase, your bank not letting you sign in, streaming sites like netflix blocking you, etc.

Private browsing should be the default and websites should not assume you're up to something shady. I've used torguard, mullvad, expressvpn, and a few others and regularly ran into these issues. This is not a knock against using VPNs, it's just something people should be aware of when VPN services market their services as nothing but hassle-free private web surfing. In the end I've settled for just running streisand from a cheap VPS instance. Hopefully with enough people using "private relay" websites will have no choice but treat this traffic like any other normal IPs.

I've been on the other side. When your VPN transaction fraud rate is much higher than your non-VPN transaction fraud rate and the volume is lower it's a no-brainer to react negatively to a VPN.
