I agree that man pages are wonderful. This point in the article really irked me.

I made the switch from Windows 10 to Manjaro w/KDE about 2 months ago. Took about a week of ironing out some things and forcing myself to stick it out, but now I love it. I will also vouch for KDE being really good right now.

Just clarifying, this isn't a Stripe product.

Just a heads up, your link is pointing to the birock.com domain instead of bitrock.com.

This is the correct URL: http://installbuilder.bitrock.com

A solar array would expedite charging, but I believe they intend to monitor energy supply rates and charge based off that as well. eg. When rates dip, it charges at a higher rate.

Wow. I actually have a new patient/establishment doctor's appointment on June 18th to speak with a physician about my lack of ability to focus on tasks and whatnot for more than a few minutes. Reading your post describes me very, very well with the exception of the cleanliness portion.

I am constantly tapping my toes or fingers, biting my nails, clicking my teeth to the beat of a song stuck in my head, etc. My knees even get sore from tapping my foot/shaking my leg while driving in the car. I've been wondering for some time if I suffered from ADHD but didn't want to self-diagnose, and I was too lazy to look for a doctor. Finally set the appointment two months ago and I am ecstatic about finally speaking to someone about it.

One thing that really struck a chord with me was your description of alcohol consumption. Some of the the best stretches of productivity in my life have been when I was holding a buzz after two beers, or the week I was taking Vicodin for a wrist injury. It's like they calm my brain down enough to let me get things done.

I also feel like many people just shirk it off as me being lazy about doing things. Want to study for that certification you've been talking about? Just sit down and do it; turn off the distractions and get to work! It isn't that easy, yet I feel guilty when people think of it that way, even though I know there's more to it.

Thank you for sharing your experiences, it has given me some hope that I might be able to get some help with this.

You're welcome. Good luck! Seeking professional help was a very difficult step for me. It meant facing a lot of things about myself that I really didn't want to.

Please keep in mind that if you are diagnosed ADHD: medication, if directed, is only one part of living with it! A comprehensive treatment plan is absolutely necessary. You can't just pill it away. A lot of my treatment so far has been forming healthier organization habits, especially around time use. I had the plan before I started the medication, but I felt like my transmission was stuck in neutral. For me, at least, the medication a facilitator for the cure, not the cure in and of itself.

I got one on the 18th as well. Spooky. Scared and happy at the same time.

Given the extremely dangerous potentials of such a mix-up, I would very much doubt an "Oops" moment would occur. Quite honestly, the way they run the company, I wouldn't be surprised if the process of pushing an OTA update to the automobiles is akin to launching a nuclear missile.

Fifteen years ago, NASA lost a Mars orbiter because one of their contractors used Imperial measurements when NASA used metric.

Swissair 111 crashed because the operator installed a new entertainment system which overheated.

A lot of serious systems made by serious people still end up with stupid problems.

While that is true, it also means that the 'serious firmware' developed for the car probably has stupid problems.

And it might be safer and cheaper to have the option of fixing problems when you find them, because if you don't have that option, you're forced to weigh the costs of a recall against the risks of the issue for every little thing.

Data. Data everywhere.

I love the idea, liking the design so far, and wanted to back it. However, $200 for this seems way too steep. I feel the same way about the Lockitron ($179). Granted, I live in a 900 sq. ft. apartment and not a multi-level house with backyard, etc., but spending almost $200 so I don't have to get up from my couch to see who is at the door is asking too much.

Like I said, I love this idea and I want to back it, but I can't commit that much cash to it (I realize you are only charged when it ships). At that price, the market is too niche (people with physical disabilities, large houses, or just large wallets) and I can't see this succeeding for long.

I agree with you, it's cool but there's no way I could justify it. However, I think Lockitron offers more utility than this and, assuming I was allowed to install my own locks, I could see myself potentially using it

Hell, it'd be cheaper and probably less confusing to visitors for you to just yell from the couch.

Chui is also beneficial while you're away. If you're expecting to be occupied you can have Chui deliver messages for your. You don't require your visitor to have a certain kind of smartphone to work with your lock, and it can make your home more intelligent(ex: recognizing when you get back and automating certain tasks.)

Still requires having previously dropped the dough to get a smarklock. Given that Lokitron lets you remotely unlock/lock, it saves you the ~$200 this costs and only takes a simple SMS if the person doesn't have a smartphone

yes, but lockitron doesn't tell you who's at your door nor does it allow you to communicate with them...

Not an excuse, but it's hard for a startup to hit the price that we'd expect a large manufacturer to. Still, their challenge is to find an audience that sees value at the price, and I agree with you, that's not necessarily you or I.

And you just won them another customer. This was so well-written, informative and entertaining that it completely hooked me. I love giving my SO random surprises, and this (JewelScent) is perfect for that!
