I've backed the project. The main reason for me is that it's a whole, integrated platform with the smartphone. It's meant to be an extension of your phone, not only a watch with wireless/accel capabilities. I love it.
I wouldn't say "fundamentally flawed". A bit simplistic, maybe, but totally understandable. Government funds are - let's say, shady - and private funds are usually who-knows-who and pretty inaccessible. I'm not saying that it's impossible but I certainly understand Julio: as good entrepreneur, he's taking the pragmatic route. Kudos for that.
The problem is, as it's mentioned on the article, that living in an information vacuum Twitter gets to be over-trusted. Journalists are reporting very fragmented and incomplete news as Mexico is one of the most dangerous countries to be a journalist. Almost all the mass media have signed a self-censorship agreement ("Iniciativa México") to limit the impact of the narco messages on the public, thus leaving people to follow unreliable media. Messages are sent by narco through actions: murders as gruesome as the desired impact of the message. Read about "blog del narco" through Google translate (I wouldn't recommend to look for the actual blog del narco) http://translate.google.com.mx/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&#...
Absolutely. That's why I'm stating that the purpose is to store a photo library. Amazon or azure storage are too expensive for relatively big, long-term, pretty static data that will be read very sporadically. The problem is that, if you want to have an alternative, going up to S3 or Azure or similar is too expensive. That's why I'm asking if someten knows better.
