Sounds like they gave up on technical interviews and hoped their reputation was enough to get people to submit work for free in the hopes of a paid position.
Fly does something similar, except they pay you for the evaluation work.
As long as they don't keep the work both sides are really throwing effort away as it should be.. One might be going into technical interviews with no prep but one threw a lot away to get to that point and potentially loses a lot in negotiation potential from doing no prep.
Started migrating away from TimescaleDB some time ago too. Initially we self-hosted to test it out. It was very quickly clear that it was a lot better for our use case and we decided to go with Clickhouse Cloud to not have to worry about the ops. The pricing for the cloud offering is very good IMO. We use it for telemetry data from a fleet of IoT devices.
Migrated from TimescaleDB to ClickHouse and it was like night and day. Naive reimplementation of the service performed wayyyy better than timescaledb. Self-hosted.
We denormalized some data then wanted to quickly filter by it. I managed to find a decent index to get us through, but now I'm stuck with another dimension in my data that I'd rather not have. I think I'll have to create a new table, migrate data, then rename it.
They've got a deportation order, so somebody is being put on a plane to El Salvador. Whether the name of the person being deported matches the name on the deportation order is another question, but not one ICE seems bothered by anymore
For a distro, just building packages for an architecture is notable support-wise. Those with custom firmware and kernels can pair them with the rocky 10 userspace.
