Microsoft funds F# as a test playground for future C# features.

I will get downvoted for this promptly, but have a look at Reddit Red Pill:

They are giving useful advice as opposed to "just be yourself"

Sub-200 IQ men guessing what a 1000+ IQ man would do :).

Guys, the IQ scale becomes statistically meaningless and undefined past 160. Stop.

Well tell that to Stephen who said, "it would be possible to achieve, very roughly, about 100 standard deviations of improvement, corresponding to an IQ of over 1,000."

meaningless... or merely incomprehensible to minds too simple to grasp its true nature?

If only we could ask Dr. Morbius...

This comment.

Edit: (to be read with melodramatic emphasis)

Sub-200? Speak for yourself.

It's probably safe to say he'd get bullied, but what do I know :).

Unless his looks, fitness, and social skills are also lvl 1000. Why not? Doesn't seem far fetched for a designer baby. In fact, giving him the perfect jawline is probably way easier than giving him 1000 IQ.

We could give him 200 IQ and five heads.

Didn't they try before the AI Winter happened?

Fork it and change it to your taste! Welcome to open source.

They didn't want to change it. They wanted to throw it away and replace it. Not exactly a fork.

Eh, I write JavaScript now.

Reimplement it on Node.js to compete with Grunt and Gulp.

:) Who needs all those silly things, who can even keep track of them all? npm scripts + browserify does the trick nicely.

Cool! How would you build an app for iOS and WinPhone using Kotlin?

Don't know about Windows Phone, but for iOS you could use RoboVM.

http://robovm.com/

For Windows at least, there's IKVM: http://www.ikvm.net/

HTML! And you get to do it once for both...

The same way I do in any other language: I don't.

iPads are dumbed-down PCs effectively. Even cats can use them for games (to an extent), not to mention humans of any age.

Isn't that hereditary? Isn't it possible to look at relatives and parents and guess own future?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longevity#Genetics

Genetics Twin studies have estimated that approximately 20-30% the variation in human lifespan can be related to genetics, with the rest due to individual behaviors and environmental factors which can be modified.

Surprised to not see "civil war" mentioned.

It's remarkably hard to plan for one without any idea of the "shape" it would take. Region vs. region? Faction vs. faction, which would geographically mix it up a lot more? What would which governments be responsible for, and not?

The normal preparations would go some ways, everyone should have bugout plans, storage of food, water, essential medicines, etc., and while of course not recommended by most governments, basic arms, e.g. a rifle and pistol. Beyond that, it's really hard to say at this point, especially since we seem to be so far from one (for how long did our only Civil War brew?).

Civil war would be somewhat out of the scope of what the article is talking about, namely discrete, punctuated events like nuclear blasts and earthquakes. Even hurricanes last only a few days in one area. War could drag on for years.

One can typically see a civil war coming from much further away than a hurricane or earthquake.

Civil war in the west is just not going to happen. There is localised political violence, but a proper civil war requires the defection of some or all of the military. The most likely country for this that counts as "western" is Turkey.

Uhmmm ... Spain ?

That was only 75 years ago ...

It's not like quality pixel art is cheap.
